The Church recently acquired the building for a complete renovation.
The Installation Brief
The brief was simple, excellent pro audio, lighting, cameras and a streaming facility were required.
The Solution
Starting with the audio, although still working to a budget, premium audio along with a digital mixer was the order of the day for this Church AV installation. Although the client wasn’t familiar with UK brand Inspired Audio, we arranged to take a neat compact line array system to the venue for a demonstration. The client was blown away.
So the PA sound system installed consisted of Inspired Audio Optima 5 line array enclosures, a drop of 3 per side and a pair of B215 sub bass enclosures, driven by 2 Inspired Audio Q5 4 channel digital power amplifiers. Front of house mixer choice was a Allen and Heath SQ7 48 channel digital board with DX168 96KHz stage boxes. A smaller system, consisting of Clever Audio 8” install speakers was integrated into the main house system to supply audio to a multi function room at the back of the Church. A hearing induction loop to assist the hard of hearing was also installed, using an Ampetronic induction loop amplifier.
The stage lighting needed to be simple and effective. We chose 8 x LEDJ Performer 200 Chip on board Par Cans and a simple to use LEDJ DMX lighting controller. These were all hung from a 9mt x 4.0mt Global Truss Trussing fixture, referred to a s a goal post. We anchored this into the wall and the floor for extra stability and we was able to use it for the TV screens and the line array drop also.
For the video streaming and the internal screens, we used a Black Magic Design ATEM Mini Pro Extreme camera switcher / controller. This enabled smooth usage and switching of the various scenes required whilst monitoring on a 19” monitor screen that we supplied at the mixing point. We opted for PTZ Optics 20x Zoom Cameras for the main feature, assisted by a Marshall CV fixed camera, for fixed and cross over scenes. A software programme called Elgato Streamdeck was used to enable the user to programme scenes and operate camera movement. All cameras were fed around the room using Black Magic Design SDi-HDMi converters. By using these with RG6 Co-ax cable this enabled ease of installation and a guarantee that we would have no issues with trying to use HDMi over long runs, which can often occur.
We installed 3 large 4K 75” screens, to the front truss elevation and 1 to the rear of the Church, so the preacher and worship band could see the song lyrics. An HDMi multi splitter also enables the rear screen to be used to show something different from the 2 front screens.
A neat array of wall plates for DMX (Lighting control), HDMi (Screens),RJ45 Ethercon (digital audio) were placed at the rear of the Church, adjacent to the mixing point. However because of the digital desk, mixing could take place anywhere within the building by using a tablet.
”From the first visit that Mick and Richard made, through to the demonstration given by Phil and the final install by a great professional team I always felt that we were in safe hands with a company who knew what they were doing. I can highly recommend them.
