Situated in Worksop Nottinghamshire and serves as a Church and community hub, along with boasting a 350 capacity live music venue. Opened in 2006, it has been designed to create superb acoustics throughout the Church, whether partitioned for a small assembly or opened to full capacity.
The Installation Brief
Our brief was check and utilize where possible any of the existing equipment and to add to it accordingly. Issues of microphone feedback had been experienced due to positioning and lack of front of house control. There were also areas within the church building where the service couldn’t be heard properly. When larger events were held, the large sound mixer had to be moved from its regular place and plugged into an area at the back of the church, which is inconvenient and took up vital floor space. Also people on stage often struggled to hear themselves. Some of the congregation with hearing aids struggled also. Often microphones had to be shared.
The Solution
As part of the overall church av installation we started by replacing the mixing desk with a Digital Mixer from Allen & Heath. This enabled control from the usual place with the flexibility of control via tablet from anywhere in the church. Control had been one of the main issues. This was now resolved and enabled use of self controlled In Ear Monitoring. We added in more Sennheiser radio microphones, serviced and replaced various components within their existing microphones and added external Sennheiser antennae to increase signal strength. Existing hanging microphones were checked and repositioned for optimisation. The existing hearing loop was serviced and re-installed rather than replaced. 2 Logic System IS12 speakers were added to cover the ‘dead spot’ areas.
”Music Gear Installations came recommended and we weren’t disappointed. From their initial meeting to final installation which included onsite training. They even turned up to our first performance to help with any teething problems that we may have had.
