Situated on The Wardwick, which is in the centre of the main culture and entertainment quarter of Derby, Living Lounge is a popular nightclub destination for the people of the city.
The Installation Brief
Essentially split into 3 areas. The Main Dance floor area, the more chilled area towards the entrance and the rear outside terrace bar. The client wanted sound and lighting to suit the ambience and décor of the club. The dance floor area was a typical City Centre DJ club atmosphere. The more chilled area also featured VIP areas. The client required all areas to be split into separate zones. Lighting needed to reflect the atmosphere in each area. Vibrant and active on the dance floor, chilled colour changes in the VIP areas and subtle up lighters and bar lighting to the outside terrace.
The Solution
3 x Electrovoice (EV) EKX12 and 2 x EKX15 subs were installed in the nightclub dance floor area. These were chosen for their high SPL’s and sound quality. Further towards the club entrance where the ambience was a little more chilled we installed a combination of EV Evid 4.2 and EV ZX1 speaker enclosures, supplemented with EV ZX1 Subs. In the outside terrace area we installed EV ZX1 and ZX1 Subs. All speakers were powered and controlled with EV CPS range multi channel amplifiers, EV DC one management systems and a Cloud CX263 3 Zone controller. We installed Chauvet lighting throughout. Intimidator Moving heads and Wave units for the dance floor along with a Chauvet Hurricane Haze machine with remote timer. Chauvet Core Par COB lights for the wash and feature lighting and Chauvet Colorband battens for the outside area.
”My manager had used Music Gear Installations in another Derby club. They paid 2 or 3 visits prior to starting work getting to know who else was on site. A total refit can sometimes get a little messy with all sorts going off, so it’s important everyone get’s on and helps each other out when it comes to threading cables for example. The club is top drawer, so is the sound system and the lighting. A superb job done well, on time and on budget.
