A busy social club with large concert room that has the reputation of putting on quite a number of big shows, mainly featuring tribute acts.
The Installation Brief
When a big show was booked, there tends acts often brought their own lighting rigs. However quite a number of acts, were starting to visit without lighting, making it visually quite poor and dark. There were also quite a number of family disco nights booked, which required effects and atmospherics on the dance floor. The concert room boasts a large stage, requiring quite a number of lights to fill.
The Solution
For stage lighting we installed a row of 6 Chauvet CorePar 80 Chip on Board (COB) lights. These have a removable magnetic lens, enabling the light to be either a wide 75 degrees stage wash or a 25 degrees spot. Because the room has a complete suspended ceiling, which forms a box shape above the stage, we reinforced several ceiling panels with 9mm plywood wherever we installed a fixture for extra support. On the back of the stage was an original truss section. We installed 4 Chauvet CorePar 40 lights across this truss shining out from the back of the stage. The stage lighting required a small controller. We installed a Chauvet Obey 4 for simple control. For the dance floor area we installed 4 x Chauvet Swarm wash fx 4 in 1 lighting effect fixtures. These units combine a rotating ‘derby’, RGB & UV wash, red and green lasers plus a ring of white strobes. For the dance floor centre piece we installed a Chauvet Helicopter multi head spinning effect. These fixtures were wired back to the control area to 2 simple fused switched spurs for simple on/off operation.
