Situated on the site that used to be the Rolls Royce factory, the facility has provided sporting, leisure and social activities for both members and non-members for almost 100 years. Production may be gone, but the wellbeing lives on in the town of Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.
The Installation Brief
Split into 2 phases, phase 1 is focussed on the fitness centre. There are 5 areas including reception. Cardio, Resistance, Free Weights and Mixed Room. Although clients often use the facility with personal headphones, there was no existing audio throughout the building. Control of the music was required in reception with the ability to change the volume in each area and make announcements. Some rooms were flat roof construction with little ceiling access, others were suspended ceilings.
The Solution
We established which rooms had roof space and figured that Ceiling speakers throughout these areas were the best solution. Speakers from Clever Acoustics were used in these areas. Where we had to wall mount speakers, discreet Mask 4 Speakers from Apart-Audio were chosen. We opted for 100 volt line speakers that we could use the tapping facility on, due to different amounts of speakers in each area. All individual areas (Zones) were wired back to the reception into a multi function MA4120 line mixer amplifier from Clever Acoustics. A Bluetooth box was also fitted behind the reception to enable music to be played wirelessly from tablet or smartphone. Finally a paging microphone with chime was installed on the reception desk.
