Sasha's Cocktail and Wine Bar in Nottingham Sound System Audio Visual Installation

About The Venue

Busy café bar during the day, bustling, lively bar in the evenings, especially during the weekends. Right in the heart of a busy market town, a few miles out of Nottingham city centre. The venue is over 2 floors

The Installation Brief

The venue recently had a sound system installed that didn’t really cope with the atmosphere that the owners wanted to create. There was a busy seating area outside that had no music present, compared with other bars in the area. The plan also was to be able to cater for live music from both DJ’s and musicians, although the space wasn’t really big enough to have visiting entertainers taking up the valuable customer space.

The Solution

Our solution was to install quality speakers that almost became invisible and part of the décor….heard and not seen! We opted for the Audac VEXO8 for its punch and sound quality for a fairly small enclosure. We installed 4 enclosures, 1 to each corner and neatly hung them from the existing heavy duty cable tray that was fed around the room. To enhance the sound, we installed an Electrovoice ZX series active compact sub bass unit, tucking this away high on a shelf.

To the doorway / porch area we installed a high quality Audac Celo8 Ceiling Speaker.

Upstairs has mainly been a more laid back chilling area so Apart Audio ceiling speakers were installed, but subsequently we have added 2 Audac WX series 8” wall speakers to supplement these for when the upstairs needs to get a little livelier.

To control the system we installed Crown XTi series digital power amplifiers for their excellent processing capabilities, plus their reliability and great sound of course! We also installed a Cloud electronics system Zoner, along with a wall plate for control on the first floor. This way all of the amplification can be installed in a neat area behind the bar, but upstairs can have control over its volume and choose to have a different source input to downstairs also.

Input plates upstairs, via a 3.5mm Auxiliary plate, enables customers who have hired the space, to plug in their own music playlist via phone or tablet. Equally, downstairs, we have installed a twin XLR wall plate, so visiting acts or DJ’s only need to bring in their mixer or control unit, and the venue can control the overall volume level, across each floor, making this more comfortable for the clients, plus, more importantly, the capability to get more people in due to the minimal amount of equipment used by the artistes.

A number of Chauvet Kinta Derby effect lighting was added to help create the atmosphere.

We’d previously had a system fitted that just wasn’t right. Music Gear Installations came along, listened to what we wanted to achieve and delivered it spot on! Back up and support has been great also. We had a small issue with the porch speaker coming loose, but because we’re open from 9 in the morning until 9 at night, MGI came on site at 6.45 in the morning to fix the problem. Great service from a great local team
